The emerald mines of the Urals

Programme (9 hours):

• 09.00 — departure on a tourist bus from Ekaterinburg: Marins Park hotel», Chelyuskintsev Str. 106 — opposite the railway station. During the transfer you will hear the fascinating story of the guide – a professional geologist;
• Visit the place, where the first Russian emarald was mined, visit the observation deck of the opencast mine;
• Delicious lunch in the local restaurant;
• Searching of semi-precious stones on the piles of the Mariinsky Emerald Deposit: chrysoberyl, quartz and others;
• Visit to the stone cutting factory, monitoring the process of treatment of stones;
• Master class on stone cutting of Ural stones. You will be able to make a small stone souvenir, made by yourself.
• 19.00 approximal arrival time in Ekaterinburg to the «Marins Park hotel», Chelyuskintsev Str. 106.

You probably  know what is «gold rush»? And we offer you to plunge into the «emerald fever». There are only three major emerald deposits in the world: Canada, Colombia and…? And the third is here —  in Russia, in the Sverdlovsk region, in the village of Malysheva, which is only 2 hours drive from Ekaterinburg. Unusual emeralds are still mined here: in May 2019 it was found a huge emerald weighing 1, 6kg – the largest in the last 30 years.

During the tour you will visit the so-called «Field of fools». This waste piles of rock. However, if you look closely, it is possible to find small stones of  beryls that you can take with you on the memory.

The emerald is considered to be one of the most beautiful stones after the cut. You will have the opportunity to observe at stone-cutting workshop the birth of the jewelry. And not only observe, but buy unicue emerald jewerly at pleasant prices.

Friends, please read our tips – they are few, but each is tested by time and circumstances.

• Clothing and shoes should be comfortable.
• If you are going on a trip, check a weather forecast and dress accordingly.
• Take water, necessary medication, a thermos of warm tea or coffee and a snack from the products long-term storage. Hot drinks you can pour and drink only during the stops of the bus.
• Please come to the bus 15 minutes before the tour starts. On the windshield of the bus will have a sign with the name of the tour.
